Hybrid Seattle Cargotecture

If you’ve been looking for information about tiny houses online you’ve probably noticed that some people like to build tiny houses out of cargo containers. This group, hybrid seattle, has been at it for a while and have even coined and trademarked the term cargotecture. They do a variety of different types of projects from tiny houses to larger residential structures. Their style is primarily modern but that may have a lot to do with the material.

One of the more interesting things about how they build is that they deconstruct the cargo containers because longer 40 foot containers are usually less expensive per square foot than the shorter 20 foot containers. Many of the projects, especially the tiny houses, don’t need 40 foot lengths so their solution is to cut the container down and use what they need. Photo credit hybrid seattle.
