Woodpecker Hotel – Tiny Tree House Hotel in Sweden

by Michael Janzen on February 9, 2009

The Woodpecker Hotel is a tiny tree house hotel room in a park in Sweden. It’s 13 meters up a tree, yep over 40 feet in the air. You get to it by climbing up a wobbly rope ladder. The tree is a 130 year old oak in the central park of Västerås which is near Stockholm, Sweden. Luckily there is a small toilet up there so you won’t need to repel down in the middle of the night to use the potty. There’s also some simple IKEA furnishings and small library in case you get tired of the view and would rather pick up a good book. Below are some great photos I found on flickr taken by Annie. Thanks again tipping me off to this cool tiny tree house Marti!

  1. Thanks for posting this — I love it. I stayed in a treehouse hotel in South America and have always wanted to do it again.

  2. [...] below the water. It’s the brainchild of artist Mikael Genberg who was also the man behind the Woodpecker Hotel. And I thought I had a wild imagination, LOL. Thanks again to Marti for passing this one onto me [...]

Yo, this is a cool treehouse. As a child in North Dakota, my brothers and I built tree h ouses. We always wanted one this cool! Fine workmanship. Ours, although being fun, looked like they were built by chimps! ha. Way to go Mikael Genberg! Tiny Kongslie Portland, Oregon USA
