Website Redesign

Welcome to a new look & feel for Tiny House Design. After carefully reviewing usage statistics to better understand what people are looking for I think I’ve come up with an even easier way to present the information that I’ve been assembled here. I also decided to go from a blueprint blue to an all green color scheme since tiny house design by it’s nature is about sustainability. Here’s a quick tour:

  • Home Page – The most recent posts quickly reviewed at-a-glance.
  • Top Bar Navigation – The most popular categories on the site for easy access.
  • Left Sidebar – The left side of the page can help you find the content you want.
  • Right Sidebar – The right side of the page surfaces the most recent and popular content.

Below is the old look & feel. As with everything I design, tiny houses or websites, feedback is always welcome.

  1. I like the reorganization of the navigational elements, but I miss your blueprint header. I thought that was really neat.

I like the redesign as well (I’m also glad you put back the blueprint header), but I miss the “Random Posts”, it was great way to catch interesting posts and also to while away the hours ;)

I like it except for two things: The comments boxes are too small. The text is really low rez and hard to read. And when you post things like polls the type becomes ridiculously hard to read. Like 32dpi hard to read! Very strange.
I’m not sure what’s going on there because I don’t think it’s simply the size of the type… the websites under the leftpanel Ads by Google are much smaller than anything else on this page and they’re clear and readable.

  4. Thanks Dimwit… I hadn’t noticed that. Easy fix… I’ll get on it.

I like the organization of the site now. I’m really glad you kept the “random posts” part, since I use that a lot. I’m partial to the color blue, so I miss the blue instead of green for links and so forth. The blue just seemed to stand out more so that I could take in the layout of the page instantly without as much visual effort. Maybe that’s just my personal preference showing. I also miss your old header–it was a bit more colorful and distinct than the newer version. However, all that aside, I love your site! It’s one of my favorite “tiny house” places to visit.
