Bike Camper

by Michael Janzen on August 13, 2009

Logan and Tammy over at RowdyKittens found this tiny house on wheels and shared it with me and Kent over at Tiny House Blog. I don’t know much about this amazing little bike camper but it sure is inspiring… in an alternative housing kind of way. The photo was snapped by Kevin Cyr, an artist who like many of us appreciates the unusual. Here’s a quote from his website:

“In a culture in which people are easily lured by the appeal of status-enhancing symbols, I find beauty in derelict cars and unkempt landscapes. I have always been interested in painting vehicles and scenes that have defined the evolution of the American landscape.”

I suspect this little house is a bit on the heavy side but it is evidence that bike mounted tiny houses are not entirely crazy or impossible. Be sure to take look at Kevin Cyr’s art and other unusual mobile findings.

Christmas crackers Michael you sure find them, once Winnebago get hold of this they’ll be everywhere especially in the recession. Great find!

That has to have been photoshopped. No one could fit through so narrow a door!

  3. You know Grant… I’m starting to think the same thing. I’ll check with the artist. If it is… he did an amazing job. Notice all the shadows.

Did you notice that in almost every photo of this individual there are people gawking in the background. ;)

It reminds me of the philosophical observations of Mohandas Gandhi and René Descartes which noted that you can’t change the world, but you can change yourself and if you are lucky, others will notice and follow your example. ;)

    Cheers, L

About Grants comment, I agree that one of us average americans probably couldn’t fit through that door. But if you look at the people, camper, and background in the pic you’ll notice that they are not americans and any one of them would be able to fit in that door. Maybe if more of us would get off our asses and use pedal power we could fit through a door that size too. :-)

  6. LOL… yeah I’m certain I’d be a squeeze :-)

Love the irony too… biking more would lead to narrower doors.

    Thanks Tim.

I just did something similar last week, the difference in mine is that the bike is inside the camper, and the manufacture is much much lower…
