Portland Alternative Dwellings (PAD) has just released a set of house plans for their Don Vardo. The folks behind PAD are Dee Williams and Katy Anderson. Dee has spent years living in a one of the first Tumbleweed Tiny Houses and Katy is a very talented woodworker and builder. Together they have produced an incredible little design and it’s exciting that the Don Vardo House Plans are now available.

The 22-page plans include basic construction information, general engineering, and details like how to build the laminated arched rafters. I think this design, with it’s relatively low roof, would be ideal as a weekend getaway house or a backyard home office. It doen’t contain a bathroom but there is a small counter and sink, flod-out bed, and desk.

I love the colors here, along with the fact that all sides have windows and there are no cabinets, closets, bathrooms, etc, blocking the view. Finding this plan and these photos has inspired me to try and figure a way to have bathroom facilities without walls, as weird as that sounds. Thanks for the inspiration, Dee!
Does anyone have an idea how much it costs to build one of these?
