Actually this is the Infomab10 pavilion created by Kawamura-Ganjavian Studio for Madrid Abierto 2010, a public arts festival in Madrid, Spain. One hundred small holes were drilled in the walls and fitted with little bubble windows to provide light. As you can see by the photos a floor and doorways were added to allow people to pass through the space.
To me this looks like a very clever way of turning water storage into housing. The tubular form is in fact a 7,400 gallon polyester reinforced fiberglass water tank. I can’t say this would be the cheapest way to start building the structure of a home but it seems like it would a very fast way to get a water tight shell. Image credit Kawamura-Ganjavian Studio.
